The 3rd Marine Special Operations Battalion (3rd MSOB) trains, equips and deploys Marine Special Operations Forces for worldwide special operations missions as directed by the Marine Special Operations Regiment.
The 3rd MSOB was eventually formed from the Marines Special Operations Advisor Group, a previous MARSOC unit, which specialized in foreign internal defence and unconventional warfare operations.
